  17. , Receives Object Honors Award for Consulting Services

  19. Software Services and Solutions, Inc., was honored last week at
  20. the Object Honors Awards ceremony that kicked off NEXTSTEP Expo
  21. '94 in San Francisco, California.  Nine awards were distributed
  22. among firms that had made substantial contributions in customized
  23. solutions, software tools, hardware, and training in the object-oriented
  24. marketplace.  Software Services and Solutions, Inc., received its
  25. award for software development, engineering, networking, and other
  26. services provided to the manufacturer of a new medical instrument
  27. incorporating open systems and real time technology.

  29. The Object Honors Awards were judged by an independent panel of
  30. industry analysts and journalists.  The panel did not include any
  31. judges from NeXT or affiliated companies.  Awardees were chosen
  32. based on overall excellence in their category and the quality and
  33. innovation of a service, solution, or product.

  35. Software Services and Solutions, Inc., implemented a touchscreen
  36. driver and other key software components for the medical instrument
  37. to allow it to operate as a turnkey device in the wet, crowded
  38. arena of an operating room.  Consultants from Software Services
  39. and Solutions, Inc., used the SS&S CASE Tools, CodeReviewer and
  40. DRCS, to establish a multiuser software development environment
  41. and code quality control system, as well as establishing the client's
  42. corporate network.  Much of the consulting involved using NeXT,
  43. Inc.'s NEXTSTEP object-oriented environment in novel ways to give
  44. the appearance of a real-time medical instrument controller at the
  45. user level.
